The Ontario Crafts Council is thrilled to announce their involvement in curating the craft component of the Canadian Collection at the 2010 Muskoka G8 Summit and the Toronto G20 Summit. Interior Designer Bruce Forster, hired to “develop a fine-art strategy” for the summits, approached the OCC to curate the craft component of the Canadian Collection at the summits.
Working in partnership with leading galleries across the province, the OCC selected approximately 150 pieces to grace the two summit locations. The works for sale are crafted by some of Canada’s most established and skilled makers. Among the items available for purchase are over thirty-five unique vessels used by the Ikebana Society of Canada for the summit floral arrangements, as well as a selection of paperweights designed for placement on each of the leader’s desks.
The works are currently available to view and purchase at The Guild Shop. Below are images of the G8/G20 display and some of the vessels with the Ikebana arrangements. Please enjoy!
August 21, 2010 - The work and the display have received wonderful feedback. We are happy to announce that many pieces have found a home. Some are still available at The Guild Shop, so please don't hesitate to contact us with your inquiries.
