She learned her ceramic skills at the Hyde Park Art Centre in Chicago, Illinois and at the Woodlawn Pottery Studio in Toronto, where she was a member before moving to her own studio in 2005. Prior to focusing on clay full-time, she was interested in the study of religion, in which she holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees. Her Works are minimally glazed to highlight the form and the marks of the process, which are her main interests. She is inspired by the aesthetics of understated simplicity. Her love of utilitarian objects informs her choice to work within the tradition of functional ceramics.
