Since 2002, Corina has refined her passion for making wearable textiles; playing with patterns, colour and texture in the fabric. Her textile work is in the Arashi Shibori tradition, an ancient Japanese art form that consists of resist dyeing techniques through elaborate tying of the fabric on tubes. This involves an extremely sophisticated and carefully controlled way of creating patterns that is considered and deliberate. She strives to achieve colours that have an iridescent quality, achieved by the multiplicity of colours that include one colour on the tops of the pleats and another in the valleys, so that as the piece moves, when worn, the visible colour changes and shimmers. Her work with Arashi shibori pleating can be on single layers of silk or multiple layers. The silk may be folded before pleating, or it may be pleated twice; as a result, her scarves are very sculptural.
