Deborah states that she feels the need to create things with her hands like an uncontrollable impulse. Her work with reticulation (texturing of the surface of a metal by a heating process) has developed over time and she now feels that she has some influence in the creation of the patterns. Though every sheet of material is unique, she can shape and form the way it reacts to the manipulation. She is still amazed as she watches the veins grow and develop as if a new life form is being created.
