Jim is a self-taught woodworker and turner. He feels tremendous satisfaction at being able to give new life to a piece of wood that began its journey several hundred years before his time. The work represented at The Guild Shop showcases Jim's "concentric ring lamination" bowls, which are made from 'sticks' that have been properly dried, treated, cut and then put together to form a block. Jim then calculates and cuts 'concentric rings' from that one block, finally stacking them together and then turning the bowl to its final shape.
